Wine Cellar With Lots of Faux Finishing
by admin on Apr.28, 2009, under News
This was such a great project to work on. This was one of my most satisfying experiences as a faux finisher. The relationship that developed with the client over the many months I was in her home was very productive. We very freely exchanged ideas. I think I effectively delivered the finishes the client was searching for. She respected my opinion and I respected hers and the design process was very fluid.

This is a close-up of a stair landing/art niche. This is a frotage finish which in Crazywalls terms means “old school leather” This faux finish is a classic. Back in the day of quick drying glazes, you could artfully camouflage lap lines. Now with the wonders of slow, slow, slow drying water-based glazes, you can do large walls without lap lines. This technique looks really classy with layered metallic glazes.
